What personal data MayR Labs Technologies collects through this website and when you contact us, why we collect it, how long we keep it and the rights you have over it under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
Who we are
This website, mayrlabs.com.ng (the "Site"), is operated by MayR Labs Technologies ("MayR Labs", "we", "us"), a company registered in Nigeria under registration number RC9662886, with its head office at 10 Harrison Cmonyei Street, ULO, Ibusa Road, Asaba, Delta State, Nigeria.
We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. We process it in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (the "NDPA") and the regulations and guidance of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
What this policy covers
This policy covers the Site and the conversations you have with the MayR Labs group directly, for example when you email us about a project, a partnership or a role.
Our companies operate their own products and websites, such as LaunchPad and Moonlit. Each publishes its own privacy policy, and that policy applies when you use that product.
The data we collect
We keep what we collect to the minimum the Site needs.
- When you contact us. If you email or call us, we receive your name, contact details and whatever you choose to tell us, such as details of a project, your organisation or your CV.
- Analytics, only with your consent. If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics records how the Site is used: pages viewed, approximate location (country and city, derived from a truncated IP address), device and browser type, and how you arrived. We do not use it to identify you.
- Technical data. Our hosting provider records standard server logs (IP address, the page requested, the time and your browser's user agent) to keep the Site secure and working.
- Data stored on your device. The Site remembers your cookie choice, and, if your browser supports it, caches pages so the Site loads quickly and works offline. See our Cookie Policy.
We do not knowingly collect data from children, and the Site is not directed at them. We do not collect special categories of personal data through the Site.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
| Purpose | Lawful basis under the NDPA |
|---|---|
| Replying to your enquiry and taking a conversation forward | Your request, and our legitimate interest in responding to it |
| Preparing a proposal or entering into a contract with you | Steps taken at your request before a contract, and performance of the contract |
| Considering you for a role | Your request, and our legitimate interest in recruiting |
| Understanding how the Site is used | Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
| Keeping the Site secure and preventing abuse | Our legitimate interest in operating a safe service |
| Meeting legal, tax and regulatory duties | Legal obligation |
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
Who we share it with
We share personal data only where we need to, with:
- Service providers who host the Site, deliver our email and provide analytics (for example Netlify and Google), under contracts that require them to protect it and use it only on our instructions;
- Companies in the MayR Labs group, where your enquiry is best handled by one of them, for example a software project passed to Fera by MayR Labs;
- Professional advisers, such as lawyers and accountants, under a duty of confidentiality;
- Authorities, where the law requires it.
International transfers
Some of our service providers process data outside Nigeria. Where they do, we rely on the transfer mechanisms the NDPA allows, such as the recipient country's adequate level of protection, or contractual safeguards that give your data protection equivalent to Nigerian law.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not lead to work: up to 24 months after our last contact.
- Client and contract records: for the life of the relationship, then for as long as Nigerian tax and company law requires, generally six years.
- Job applications: up to 12 months after the role is filled, unless you ask us to keep your details for future roles.
- Analytics data: 14 months, after which Google Analytics deletes it automatically.
Your rights
Under the NDPA you have the right to:
- be told how your personal data is used, which is the purpose of this policy;
- access the personal data we hold about you and receive a copy;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data erased where there is no good reason for us to keep it;
- restrict or object to our use of your data, including for direct marketing;
- receive your data in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting what we did before you withdrew it.
To exercise any of these rights, email info@mayrlabs.com.ng. We will reply within 30 days. If you are unhappy with our response, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
How we protect it
Security is one of our core values. Data is encrypted in transit, access is limited to the people who need it, and our providers are chosen in part for their security practices. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach affects your data we will tell you and the Commission as the law requires.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when our practices change. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If a change is significant, we will say so on the Site.
